"Her need to create inclusive environments that encourage participation among marginalized populations in community initiatives pushed her to pursue a PhD in Public Health Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte."

Newly matriculated Public Health Sciences Ph.D. student, H. Lyn Kim, is one of twenty Emerging City Champions (ECC). An initiative of 80 Cities and the Knight FoundationChampions are selected to use their creativity and partnerships to strengthen communities. The ECC fellowship funds young leaders from around the US to develop and implement innovative ways to address public space, mobility, and/or civic engagement.
