Categories: Uncategorized

Nikki Layden, a current Master of Health Administration candidate, spent her fall semester as a Graduate Assistant for the Jamil Niner Student Pantry. Within this role, Nikki oversees daily operations, manages and coordinates student interns and volunteers, and coordinates special events with academic departments, local businesses, and donors. She also serves as a liaison among the Assistant Director of Community Engagement, faculty members, and student interns within the Jamil Niner Student Pantry team.

In addition to these roles, Nikki attended the Carolinas College Hunger Summit at North Carolina A&T University this past October. At this conference, the Jamil Niner Student Pantry was awarded the Program Sustainment Grant. This grant “strengthens the ability for campus communities to respond to the challenge of hunger and food insecurity.” Nikki, who is a key contributor to the success of the student pantry, is excited to “use this grant to create a more inclusive environment for the Student Pantry clients” in the coming semester.

Congratulations, Nikki! We are pleased to know that one of our own is working to alleviate the impact food insecurity has on our community. We look forward to cheering you on in your future endeavors.
