Jonathan (Jon) Myers is the president elect for the Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives Group (GCHEG). He succeeds Joann Spaleta in this position effective January 1. Mr. Myers currently serves as Director of Business Operations over the Metro Emergency Service Line at Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS). Mr. Myers received his MHA from Virginia Commonwealth University. After completing his masters, he completed an administrative residency in the Washington, D.C. metro area before relocating to Charlotte in 2011, starting as a practice manager within CHS. In his spare time, he enjoys fitness, the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his 18-month old son.

As the GCHEG President, Mr. Myers plans to help grow the chapter and build on the work of past leaders. He hopes to see GCHEG partner with other American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) chapters in the region, as well as in other states, to share best practices and jointly offer educational and networking opportunities to the members.

Mr. Myers stated that providing an opportunity for the Charlotte Healthcare Executive Student Organization (CHESO) members to make connections and to grow within GCHEG is a top priority. He stressed the significance of joining ACHE and GCHEG by reflecting on his own experiences. ACHE and GCHEG have given Mr. Myers the opportunity to network and grow professionally. He said it is a great opportunity for students to get involved outside of their respective organizations. GCHEG helps students to meet other people in our area and share ideas as well as offering a variety of educational events.

Mr. Myers gave some helpful advice for MHA students on advancing their career. He said, “Students need to challenge themselves to be willing to do anything to get experience.” He suggested frequently meeting with new people to help grow one’s network and gain knowledge about the different parts of healthcare. Furthermore, he encourages students to meet with as many people as possible because people will open doors to opportunities. Mr. Myers also said that as new healthcare managers, MHA students need know the importance of giving credit to the whole team and to being accountable for their team.
