MPH Program Metrics
As part of its internal continuous quality assurance and performance monitoring processes and in response to reporting requirements to our accreditor, the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the UNC Charlotte MSPH Program regularly monitors a number of program metrics.
Listed below are several measures that might be useful to students considering our program, along with any context needed to interpret this information within the UNC Charlotte environment.
On average, we receive approximately 60 applications for each new cohort of approximately 20-25 new MPH students.
Fall 2016 MPH Students
Competitive applicants to the program typically have an undergraduate GPA above 3.0 and GRE scores whose verbal and analytic percentile scores sum to at least 90. These averages aside, the admissions committee employs a holistic review of the entire application portfolio, where strength in one area might offset weakness in another. This review process places added emphasis on the applicant’s statement of purpose to 1) convince the committee that the program is appropriate given the applicant’s goals and objectives and 2) to convince the committee that the applicant can be successful in the program.
For the cohort entering Fall 2016, approximately 59% of all applicants were offered admission - 19 enrolled.
For those offered admission:
- The average GPA was 3.3
- The average Verbal GRE percentile score was 46
- The average Quantitative GRE percentile score was 38
